BIG DATA PROGRAMER ANALYST

Course Overview

This hybrid is a 12-week course that pairs our Data Engineering with Problem & Change Management principles from our Programmer Analyst curriculum. 

Students will learn the basics of bash for scripting and automation, Big Data, and Hadoop technologies (using Horton Works Data Platform (HDP)) through hands-on classroom activities, case studies and more. Our students will learn how to extract, scrub and manipulate large sets of (un)structured real-time and warehouse data, using PL/SQL and Java, for effective and efficient use by analysts. , how to maintain databases and troubleshoot issues within them that may arise.

At the end of the course, students will be able to manage all stages and processes in the data management process. The coursework is supplemented with ITIL and ITSM frameworks to ensure students deliver superior customer service using ServiceNow, preparing students as consultants and agents for clients seeking custom data management systems.

Our full immersive program will expose you to the following technologies: Java, Oracle DB, Shell Scripting, SDLC and Coding Practices, JDBC, Excel (ODBC), Data Modeling and Warehousing, Hadoop, Map Reduce, Data Transfer (Sqoop), Pig, Hive, NiFi, Ranger and AWS Redshift.

Application Details

Candidates: Ideal candidates will be organized, agile individuals interested in business processes, client management, project management and technology applications and systems. You posses computational thinking skills, do well in fast-paced environments and can learn new technologies quickly. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship (presently or in the future) and be able to travel to Irving, TX for training.

Professional experience should include one or more years of business and/or tech experience in Big Data, Database Management, Computer Information Systems or related topic areas and familiarity with the following technologies:

  • Java, .NET, C++, C#, SQL and/or Oracle

  • Object Orient Programming principles (OOP)

  • SQL Query construction

  • Spreadsheets (Excel, Sheets, Numbers) + Dynamic Tables and Data Formulas

  • Project Management (Agile, Scrum)
