Course Overview


Before miners and analysts create charts and visuals to explain information, Big Data Scientists and Engineers manage and refine the data they review. These scientists and engineers handle large sets of raw data and are the masters of the matrix.

In this course, you will learn the basics of Big Data and Hadoop technologies through hands-on classroom activities, case studies and more. You will learn how to extract, scrub and manipulate real-time and warehouse data using SQL & Java, properly define a problem and design tests that yield valid solutions, and prepare large sets of data for effective and efficient use by analysts. 

Our full immersive program will expose you to the following technologies: Java, Oracle DB, Shell Scripting, SDLC and Coding Practices, JDBC, Excel (ODBC), Data Modeling and Warehousing, Hadoop, Map Reduce, Data Transfer (Sqoop), Pig and Hive.

Candidates: Ideal candidates will be organized, agile individuals interested in business processes, client management, project management and technology applications and systems. You posses computational thinking skills, do well in fast-paced environments and can learn new technologies quickly. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship (presently or in the future) and be able to travel to Irving, TX for training.


Professional experience should include one or more years of business and/or tech experience in Big Data, Database Management, Computer Information Systems or related topic areas and familiarity with the following technologies:

  • Java, .NET, C++, C#, SQL and/or Oracle

  • Object Orient Programming principles (OOP)

  • SQL Query construction

  • Spreadsheets (Excel, Sheets, Numbers) + Dynamic Tables and Data Formulas

  • Project Management (Agile, Scrum)
